School Based Therapy

I am lucky enough to have started small group therapy with students at one of our Broken Hill Primary Schools.

We are using the Sounds-Write programme, which I completed training in at the beginning of the year ☺️

This is a wonderful tool to teach the following skills, all of which are crucial for success in reading and writing ✍🏼📖

⭐️ Blending: Pushing sounds together to build words (d-o-g = dog 🐶)

⭐️ Segmenting: Pulling apart individual sounds in words (pig = p-i-g 🐷)

⭐️ Phoneme Manipulation: ability to insert sounds into and delete sounds out of words 🥳

During these sessions we are currently targeting the idea that letters are symbols (spellings) which represent sounds. As students progress, more complex knowledge is introduced 😊

I am currently using this programme with other clients (outside of the school-based sessions), so I will give an insight into the more complex concepts, next week! 🥰 Keep an eye out!
